Hands up for Trad, in association
with BBC Scotland Interactive, will be hosting the third ‘Scots
Trad Music Awards’ Celebrations on the 3rd December,
2005 at The
Queen’s Hall, South Clerk Street, Edinburgh (Box
Office 0131 6682019 - Tickets available now). The aim of these
Awards is to highlight Scotland's wonderful traditional music
in all its forms and to create a high profile opportunity
which will bring the music and music industry into the spotlight
of media & public attention. Many thanks to all our sponsors
who with out their help this event would not go ahead. Please
support them.
Acts playing will include Blazin'
Fiddles, Maggie MacInnes Band, Jim Malcolm, Plockton National
Centre of Excellence in Traditional Music, Kirkwall City Pipe
Band, Stuart Cassells, TMSA Young Trad Musicians (featuring
all the finalists of the 2005 BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional
Musician Award), Anna Massie Band and The Occasionals. Our
comperes this year are BBC Scotland's Mary Ann Kennedy and
Iain Anderson.
The Awards, which give recognition
to excellence within Scotland's thriving musical culture,
encompass all aspects of traditional music from Gaelic Song,
Folk, Scottish Dance music, to Pipe Bands and a host of others
in between.

Nominations 3rd - 22nd October
Anybody can nominate their favourite band/organisation etc.

Stage
2: Voting 1st - 25th November Again everybody is able
to vote for their favourite act/organisation etc. Online voting
will be taking place as usual on BBC Scotland's Celtic
Roots web site or you can download the 2005 voting form
from this website (PDF,
Word file). You can

For the first time we are inducting 6 performers into our
inaugural Hall of Fame. Each entrant has to have been performing
for over 20 years. The list will be announced shortly however
the make up is 5 Scottish musicians and one international
performer.
Hamish Henderson Award for Services
to Traditional Music
This will be awarded to someone who's contribution to traditional
music has been invaluable over the last few years. In 2003
we awarded it posthumously to Hamish Henderson and in 2004
The McCalmans after 40 years in the traditional music business.
