Nominations launch for 2004 Scots Trad
Music Awards
The nominations for this years
Scots Traditional Music Awards will be announced by Hands
Up for Trad on Monday 1st November at 12.30pm in the Hope
Scott Room in Queens Hall, Edinburgh.
Ian Green of Greentrax Recordings will
open the launch, which will be attended by a number of nominees,
musicians Sarah Hoy and Orna Gilchrist playing live and wine
and soft drinks will be available.
An organisation dedicated to increasing
the profile and visibility of Scottish traditional music through
information, education and advocacy, Hands Up for Trad will
also be launching their St Andrews Celebrations programme
of event with 110 traditional music performances from Shetland
to the Scottish Borders.
Hosted by Hands Up For Trad in association
with BBC Scotland Interactive, this is the 2nd year of the
Scots Traditional Music Awards, which will also take place
at Edinburghs Queens Hall on the 4th December,
2004 at 7.30pm.
The ceremony will be opened by Patricia
Ferguson, the new Minister for Tourism, Culture and Sport
and the winners of 18 Awards, voted for by the public, will
be announced. Live performances from Battlefield Band (Best
Live Band 2003), Cliar (Best Album 2003), James Graham (BBC
Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician 2004), Hadhirgaan
(23piece youth band from Orkney), Nicol McLaren Scottish Dance
Band, Scottish Power Pipe Band (Best Pipe Band 2003), Sheena
Wellington will also take place.
