ST
ANDREW'S DAY CELEBRATIONS
23rd November - 3rd December 2006
This is an event to bring together
traditional music and arts events throughout Scotland around
St Andrew's Day. By placing many independently promoted events
under one banner we hope to make a bigger splash in the media
with the result that more of the public hear about Scotland's
great traditional music and come to the events. The event
is national with no place taking centre stage. Our events
brochures are sent to all of Scotlands librarys and Area Tourist
Boards where people can pick them and go to an event in their
area. This event could not happen without the many promotors
throughout Scotland and we thank them from their continued
support.
With last year's event being such
a great success we have continued this year's celebrations
over 9 days. Check out our 2003,
2004 and 2005
St Andrew's events.

Frank McAveety, Minister for Culture,
Tourism and the Arts released the following statement in 2003
to support this event:
"Scottish traditional music and song are inextricably
bound up with an appreciation of a cultural heritage and our
perceptions of national identity. I think it is fitting, therefore,
that St Andrew's Day should be the focus of a series of events
that provide an opportunity for the public to experience some
of the finest traditional Scottish music around. Visitors
and locals alike can enhance the celebration of St Andrew's
Day in a uniquely Scottish way that will provide a memorable
and enjoyable experience."
