Press Release 16/11/04

A quick thank you to all who have voted in the Scots Trad Music Awards so far. I've just heard from BBC Interactive that there has been over 20,000 votes counted and hits to Celtic Roots have gone up from 5000 per week to 30,000 and we are only halfway through! The postal response has been amazing as well with multiple votes coming in daily.

There is still plenty of time to vote as it ends on Friday 26th November. If you haven't had time to vote yet you can do so online by visiting BBC Celtic Roots (www.bbc.co.uk/celticroots) or download a form from www.handsupfortrad.co.uk. If you would like to view the evening running order please visit http://www.handsupfortrad.co.uk/tradmusicawards/runningorder2004.htm.

The Awards and concert are on the 4th December, 2004 at The Queen's Hall, South Clerk Street, Edinburgh (Box Office 0131 6682019). The aim of these Awards is to highlight Scotland's wonderful traditional music in all its forms and to create a high profile opportunity which will bring the music and music industry into the spotlight of media & public attention. It will be a great night and there is still some tickets left for sale. All the nominees will be there and the Queen's Hall have applied for a 3am license so there will be a party afterwards.

Please support all our sponsors, without them this event would not happen: Birnam CD, BBC Radio Scotland, BBC Radio Shetland, Foot Stompin' Records, Greentrax, Highlander Music, The Living Tradition, Macmeanmna, McEwan's Sessions, Musicians' Union, Scottish Arts Council, NAAFC, The National Piping Centre, The New Makars Trust, RSCDS, Temple Records, Tradtunes.com, TMSA, Visit Scotland, Wellington Consultancy.
