Children. Fabulous traditional music
classes with top Scottish traditional musicians. Fiddle with
Shona Mooney, Guitar with Dave Francis, Scots Song with Mairi
Campbell, Ensemble with Harris Playfair. The day of classes
costs £20 (conc £10) and you can take part in
as many classes as you want. Enrollment is at the Elphinstone
Hotel in Biggar High Street from 9.30am. You can enroll in
advance by contacting us here.
Block 1 & 2 correspond to different
sessions times. You can choose to go to block 1 and then pick
another option to go to at block 2 time. Same in the afternoon.
This applies to all the tutors.
Music Fair and Taster Sessions The Music Fair will host local
tutors, music suppliers and community groups. Come along and
try a new instrument and possibly start a new hobby. Taster Sessions: Are you interested in playing the
guitar, come along and try our guitar workshops which will
run throughout the day. Guitar workshops commence at 12.30pm,
2pm and 3.30pm.

Mooney is one of Scotland's leading traditional musicians.
She won the BBC Radio Scotland
Young Traditional Musician 2006 and has appeared at many
international festivals. The Cast - featuring Dave Francis
and Mairi Campbell are one of Scotland's top duo's featuring
a balanced repertoire of songs and tunes.

Directions
to Biggar.
If you are driving from Glasgow direction get on the M74 direction
Carlisle and take junction 13 (Biggar/Abington). Follow signs
to Biggar (A702). You will drive through the village of Lamington
and Coulter. Look out for the Gillespie Centre when you reach
Biggar which is opposite the Municipal Hall. We will also
put out signposts.
If you are coming from the Edinburgh
direction, head to Hillend Ski Slope which is on the A702.
Do not leave this road and you will reach Biggar (approx 30
miles). Look out for the Gillespie Centre when you reach Biggar

***It has been pointed
out to us that if you are planning to come via the A70 you
will find it closed between wester Balerno (Hannahfield) and
the Kirknewton airfield turn-off, so you'll either need to
go via the A71 as far as Kirknewton or via the Edinburgh bypass
and A702.***
